Contractor put under scrutiny at New Haven Board of Education finance meeting
NEW HAVEN – An ongoing debate about how the school district awards contracts for “professional services” without going through a bidding process boiled over in a Finance Committee meeting Monday.
The Board of Education for years has faced pressure internally and from members of the community to revisit its process of awarding “no-bid” contracts to contractors who often deal with the emotional well-being of students. Board member Ed Joyner is working on compiling a process whereby contractors would need to provide some data proving the effectiveness of their programs before the district awards a contract.
